England vs Portugal
England and Portugal's quarterfinal meeting will be a rematch from Euro 2004's elimination match which the Portuguese won. This time around the English are in great shape to exact revenge. Portugal will not only be without two of its starting midfielders Deco and Costinha, who will both miss the match after receiving red cards in the round of 16 match against a disgraceful match Holland. Also Cristiano Ronaldo has been hampered by a leg injury and will not be 100%.
England comes off its 1-0 victory over Ecuador and will look to advance to the semifinals to face the winner of Brazil/France. Despite scoring only six goals in four games thus far, England has done extremely well on the defensive side and will again look to shut down a Portugal offense not at full strength. As talented as Wayne Rooney is, England's fab four of Beckham, Cole, Gerrard, and Lampard should be able to take control of the match. The outcome might be different if Portugal had its full team available, but regardless of the lineup, England is on a mission.
