Round 20: Perth Glory vs Sydney FC

The Glory boys hold its semi-finals' destiny in its own hands. Currently sixth, Perth will secure a berth in the semis if it beats Sydney on Sunday and then downs the Jets in Newcastle next weekend. Also Sydney FC will want to secure the second spot so a tight match is expected.

It doesn't take long for Sydney FC to lead the match 2-0 with goals in the 14th and 23rd minutes, crushing Glory. The first half is dominated totally by Sydney and are looking good for that A-League second spot going into the finals.

On the 48th minute Glory's Bobby Despotovski misses a penalty! Determined to make good Bobby then scores on the 55th minute, which should have been an equaliser.

Perth are out of the finals and Sydney secures the second place.

Round 20: NZ Knights vs Adelaide United

Already assured of first place, Adelaide United travelled to Auckland to meet the bottom team New Zealand Knights. The result is a bland 1-1. Both sides had chances to nail the winner in the dying minutes.

The Knights will have to come up with something for next season having scored only 6 points in the entire season.

Round 20: CC Mariners vs Melbourne Victory

The Central Coast Mariners beat Melbourne Victory 3-1 in Gosford on Friday night and jumped into second place on the A-League ladder.

The Mariners are unbeaten in their last eight matches and will secure a place in the finals if Perth Glory fail to get full points against Sydney FC on Sunday. The Mariners also ended Queenslands hopes to make the finals.

Round 20: Newcastle Jets vs Queensland Roar

Queensland Roar booted 5 goals thrashing the Newcastle Jets in an A-League match at EnergyAustralia Stadium.

The Queenslanders had been unable to score more than two goals in an A-League match this season but Reinaldo Elias da Costa, Jonathan Richter, Alex Brosque, Matt McKay and Massimo Murdocca all netted for the visitors.

Round 19: Newcastle Jets vs Melbourne Victory

Newcastle Jets climbed into second place in the A-League with a 1-0 win over Melbourne Victory on Sunday. The Jets are still 11 points behind Adelaide United but jumped Sydney FC and Central Coast Mariners.

Victory fell to seventh spot, and with just two rounds remaining out of the any finals contention. Melbourne Victory can now start looking ahead to the next season while Newcastle are in fine position for the finals.

Round 19: Queensland Roar vs Sydney FC

Roar hero Alex Brosque scored both goals for the Roar beating Sydney FC 2-1 on Saturday at Suncorp Stadium. The win moved Queensland to 24 points and with two games remaining in the season they still have a chance at the finals.

Round 19: NZ Knights vs Perth Glory

Perth Glory dominated New Zealand's A-League team netting four goals. The New Zealand Knights started strong but finished poorly again in the Thursday night match in Western Australia. The final was score 4-1, which was a great win for Perth as they look towards to the final two matches against Sydney FC and the Newcastle Jets.

The Central Coast Mariners are the clear favourites here. The New Zealand Knights need a miracle like they did with Sydney FC last weekend.

The game is scoreless til 90+1st minute goal from Dean Heffernan. What an important goal for Central Coast this is and puts right into the fight for a play-off spot. The Mariners move into 3rd spot on the ladder one point ahead of local rivals the Jets.

Round 17: Perth Glory vs Queensland Roar

This is a must-win match for both teams. The Roar need maximum points if they want to contest the play-offs.

Roar started the game by scoring the first goal just 10 minutes from the whistle. The Roar continue to attack firing off 5 shots at goal to Glory's 2. In the second half Roar still control the ball and on the 79th minute make it 2-0.

A must-win becomes reality for the Roar. Good effort!

Round 17: Sydney FC vs Newcastle Jets

Sydney FC completely dominated the Jets, but the visitors' defence held firm to record a goalless draw in front of 15,211 fans.

The home side were dominant throughout the match but had countless attacking moves broken down by desperate Jets' defenders.

The first half was all Sydney but they managed to get only a few good opportunities.
In the second half Jets gained some confidence but the scores remained level.

The closest chance was when Andrew Packer sent in a cross in the 75th minute finding the head of Sasho Petrovski. Beating the goalie it struck the bottom of the crossbar and bounced the way of David Zdrili, who could only tap the rebound straight into the arms of the grateful Jet's goalie.

Round 17: Adelaide United vs Melbourne Victory

Travis Dodd's 14th minute goal was enough to hand Adelaide United a 1-0 win over struggling Melbourne Victory. The result extends Adelaide's lead at the top of the A-League ladder to 10 points. Melbourne has no hopes for a top four finals' berth.

The home side survived a few anxious moments in the game with Victory attackers Allsopp, Sarkies and Thompson all missing relatively easy chances to equalise.

A good win for the United despite the mistakes.

Round 16: Adelaide United vs Queensland Roar

Adelaide United's 4-2 win over the Queensland Roar stretch its lead at the top of the A-League to seven points - just what Sydney FC didn't want to happen after they fumbled with the Knights.

Adelaide were outplayed for the first half hour by Queensland but then leashed three goals in the last 15 minutes of the first half destroying Roar.

Adelaide began the second-half in control and stretched their lead to 4-1 - game over.

The result sees Adelaide extend their lead over Sydney FC to seven points on the competition ladder. The Roar face a tough task to rise from seventh place to fourth to secure a play-off spot.
